We left Ohio and stayed off the interstate, shadowing I-70 by following the National Road, Route 40. There is a string of lovely old towns dotted between the farms. There are lots of brick houses and storefronts, and they have preserved some of the early log homes like this one. We had breakfast in a cute little restaurant called "Lumpy's" and I had my token breakfast of biscuit and gravy. It tasted better than this looks:
token? Yep, anyone's diet can only stand this dish once per year. I've had it once. Not again until next year!
Then we antiqued and I saw a few fun quilts, but no bargains, which I was looking for. The best was this old basket quilt:
and the worst was a star:
As I was leaving the shop, I saw this at the stop light. Don't see these in downtown Durham!
